Exact Barcode is a focused collection of free barcode tools and practical barcode resources designed to make common barcode tasks easier to complete and easier to understand. Instead of mixing hundreds of unrelated calculators, converters and generators into one directory, we concentrate specifically on barcode generation, scanning, validation, check digits, bulk workflows and barcode printing.
The website is available at ExactKBTools.com, while Exact Barcode is the public-facing brand. Our aim is to give users straightforward barcode tools without requiring an account, subscription or expensive barcode-generation service for ordinary tasks.
What You Can Do With Exact Barcode
Exact Barcode brings together tools for both simple barcode creation and more practical workflows involving multiple values. You can create a single barcode, generate many barcodes in bulk, process barcode values from a CSV file, scan supported barcode formats, check barcode structures, calculate GTIN check digits and prepare barcode labels for printing.
The site also provides dedicated generators for common formats including Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-8, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, ITF-14 and Codabar. Because different barcode formats have different rules, the tools are designed to provide format-specific feedback rather than treating every input as interchangeable.
If you simply need to create a barcode, start with the Barcode Generator. You can also browse the complete Barcode Tools directory to find a tool for scanning, validation, bulk generation, check digits or printing.
Why Exact Barcode Focuses on One Subject
Many online tool websites contain hundreds or thousands of unrelated utilities. While that can create a large directory, it often leaves individual topics fragmented across basic pages that do not work together.
Exact Barcode takes a different approach. Barcode generators, scanners, validators, printing tools and educational resources are built around the same subject so users can move naturally between related tasks.
Someone working with an EAN-13 number, for example, may need to understand the format, verify its check digit, create the barcode, generate additional codes in bulk and prepare labels for printing. Keeping those related tasks together creates a more useful workflow than offering one isolated barcode generator.
Barcode Generation in Your Browser
Many Exact Barcode tools perform their main processing directly inside your web browser. For ordinary barcode generation and supported bulk workflows, this means the barcode data can be processed on your device rather than being sent to a paid barcode-generation API for every request.
Browser-based processing also helps the tools respond quickly and allows us to offer the core functionality without charging users each time they create a barcode. It reduces unnecessary server processing for tasks that modern browsers can perform locally.
Some website services can operate differently. Analytics, advertising or other third-party services may process their own information when those services are enabled and our Privacy Policy explains how those services are handled.
No Account Required for Core Barcode Tools
You do not need to register an account simply to generate a barcode, calculate a check digit, validate a supported number or use the main scanning tools. The core utilities are intended to work without forcing users through a sign-up process before completing a basic barcode task.
Exact Barcode also does not currently provide cloud barcode storage, personal barcode libraries or paid subscription accounts. Generated barcode data is therefore not automatically saved to a personal profile on the website.
If additional account-based functionality is introduced in the future, it will be clearly separated from the free core tools rather than silently changing the way existing tools operate.
How We Approach Barcode Accuracy
Barcode formats can have specific requirements involving length, permitted characters, check digits and encoding rules. Where appropriate, Exact Barcode checks these requirements and attempts to explain a problem clearly instead of simply displaying a generic error.
For example, GTIN-related tools can calculate or verify applicable check digits. The Barcode Validator can help identify structural problems, while the Barcode Check Digit Calculator calculates check digits for supported GTIN lengths.
It is important to understand what this type of validation means. A number can be mathematically and structurally valid without being an officially assigned identifier belonging to a particular product or company.
We Do Not Issue Official UPC, EAN or GTIN Numbers
Exact Barcode can create barcode graphics from identifiers supplied by users and perform certain structural calculations. We do not issue GTINs, assign company prefixes, create ownership of UPC/EAN identifiers or certify that a number belongs to a particular company.
If you need an officially assigned product identifier for commercial use, obtain it through the appropriate authorized standards or issuing organization for your market. Generating a barcode image from a number does not itself register or assign that number.
This distinction also applies to validation results. When Exact Barcode reports that a GTIN has the correct length and check digit, that result describes its structure; it does not prove registration, ownership or product identity.
Barcode Images and Real-World Scanning
Creating a correctly encoded barcode image is only one part of producing a barcode that works reliably after printing. Barcode size, quiet zones, contrast, printer resolution, printing material, surface shape and the scanner being used can all affect real-world performance.
For this reason, Exact Barcode does not claim that every generated barcode is automatically guaranteed to scan in every situation. A code that looks correct on a monitor may still perform poorly if it is printed too small, distorted, cropped or placed on unsuitable material.
The Barcode Size Calculator and Barcode Label Maker can assist with preparation and printing workflows. For applications where standards compliance is critical, professional barcode verification and testing of the final printed result may still be necessary.
Bulk Barcode Generation
Generating one barcode is very different from preparing dozens or hundreds of values. Exact Barcode therefore includes dedicated workflows for bulk creation rather than requiring users to repeat a single-barcode generator manually.
The Bulk Barcode Generator lets you process multiple barcode values together. It is useful when you already have a list of values and need to create several barcodes using the same format.
Where supported, values are checked individually so invalid rows can be identified instead of allowing one incorrect entry to silently affect an entire batch.
Creating Barcodes From CSV Files
Structured business and inventory data is often stored in spreadsheets or CSV files. The CSV Barcode Generator is designed specifically for this workflow.
You can select the relevant column containing barcode values and use that data for barcode generation. Where practical, CSV parsing and barcode creation happen within the browser rather than requiring the original file to be permanently stored by Exact Barcode.
Before using generated barcodes in an important production workflow, always review the source values and any validation warnings. A tool can encode the information supplied to it, but it cannot correct incorrect product data simply because that data came from a spreadsheet.
Barcode Label Printing
Once barcodes have been created, they often need to be placed on physical labels. The Barcode Label Maker helps arrange barcode values into printable layouts for supported page sizes and custom label configurations.
The tool can help with common preparation tasks such as choosing rows, columns, label dimensions, page margins and spacing. This makes it possible to move from generated barcode values to a practical label sheet without manually positioning every barcode.
Printer settings can still affect the final result. Browser scaling, printer margins and physical label dimensions should therefore be checked before printing a large batch.
Barcode Scanning
Exact Barcode can also help read existing barcodes through the Barcode Scanner. Depending on your browser and device capabilities, supported codes can be decoded from a camera or barcode image.
The scanner's purpose is to read the encoded barcode value and identify a supported format where possible. It does not automatically provide worldwide product names, prices or manufacturer information because Exact Barcode does not currently operate a global commercial product database.
A successfully decoded number should therefore be understood as the information encoded in the barcode, not necessarily a verified product record.
Barcode Validation
The Barcode Validator helps determine whether an entered value matches the basic structural requirements of supported barcode formats. Depending on the format, checks may include length, allowed characters and check-digit validity.
A successful result is useful for identifying obvious structural problems before generating or printing a barcode. It should not be interpreted as certification that the identifier has been officially assigned or that a final printed barcode meets every industry requirement.
This distinction keeps validation useful without overstating what an online browser tool can prove.
Check Digit Calculations
Several commonly used product identifiers include a check digit designed to detect certain data-entry errors. Exact Barcode provides a dedicated Barcode Check Digit Calculator for supported GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-13 and GTIN-14 calculations.
The calculator can show the calculated final digit and complete identifier, making it useful both for practical work and for understanding how the number is constructed. Where possible, supporting explanations show how the calculation is performed instead of presenting the result as an unexplained number.
Check-digit validity confirms mathematical consistency, not product registration.
Practical Barcode Guides
A generator can answer “How do I create this barcode?”, but users often need to understand why one barcode format should be used instead of another. Exact Barcode therefore includes practical guides alongside the tools.
Our guides are intended to explain topics such as EAN versus UPC, Code 128 versus Code 39, GTIN check digits, barcode printing, CSV workflows, barcode sizing and common reasons a barcode may fail to scan. These topics connect naturally with the corresponding generators and utilities.
As the learning library grows, the Barcode Guides and Barcode Types sections will provide more detailed explanations for visitors who need more than a quick result.
Our Editorial Approach
Exact Barcode aims to publish original explanations created specifically for the barcode problems and workflows addressed by this website. We do not want the educational section to become a collection of copied specifications or lightly rewritten content from other websites.
Where a topic depends on established standards, reliable and authoritative technical documentation should inform the explanation. Our role is to turn those requirements into practical language, examples and workflows that help users understand what they are doing.
Content may be reviewed and updated when standards, tools or browser capabilities change. Guides can also be improved when we identify unclear explanations or practical questions that have not been answered adequately.
Who Exact Barcode Is For
Exact Barcode is intended for a wide range of people who need to work with barcode data without installing complicated software for every task. That can include small businesses, online sellers, office staff, inventory teams, warehouse workers, developers, students and individuals preparing their own labels.
A beginner may simply need to create one Code 128 barcode, while another user may need to process hundreds of values from a CSV file. The tools are designed to make simple tasks approachable while providing additional options for more structured workflows.
Highly regulated or standards-sensitive applications may require additional professional software, officially assigned identifiers and dedicated verification equipment. Exact Barcode should complement those workflows rather than claim to replace every specialized system.
Privacy and Data Handling
Our approach is to avoid collecting barcode data when the task can reasonably be completed inside the visitor's browser. Ordinary barcode generation, supported CSV processing and several related workflows are designed around local browser processing.
This approach reduces the need to transmit or store data solely for the purpose of producing a barcode. It also means Exact Barcode does not need to create a permanent database of every barcode value visitors generate.
Website analytics, advertising and contact forms can involve different data-processing activities. Full information about those services is provided in our Privacy Policy.
Free Access and Website Sustainability
The core Exact Barcode utilities are designed to remain accessible without charging users for every barcode generation request. Browser-based processing and open-source software make it possible to provide many of these features without an expensive paid API behind each click.
The website may use advertising to support hosting, development and ongoing maintenance. Advertising should remain visually separate from important actions such as Generate, Scan, Download and Print so visitors are not intentionally encouraged to mistake an advertisement for a tool control.
Any advertising provider actually used by the website will be disclosed appropriately in the Privacy Policy.
Open-Source Technology
Parts of Exact Barcode are made possible by open-source software. These projects provide reliable building blocks for barcode rendering, scanning and other browser-based functions while allowing the website to remain independent of expensive per-use services.
We believe those projects should be acknowledged properly. Details about the open-source components used by Exact Barcode and their applicable licenses are available on our Open Source Licenses page.
Feedback, Problems and Corrections
Even a focused barcode website can encounter unusual devices, files, printers and workflows. If you find a tool behaving unexpectedly, notice an error in one of our explanations or believe a page could be clearer, we welcome useful feedback.
You can reach us through the Contact Exact Barcode page. When reporting a technical problem, include the tool involved and enough non-sensitive information to reproduce the issue where possible.
Please never send passwords, database credentials, private account information or other confidential data through the contact form.
Our Goal
Exact Barcode is built around a straightforward principle: provide useful barcode tools, explain what they actually do and be clear about their limitations. The site should help people move from understanding a barcode problem to choosing the right tool and completing the task without unnecessary complexity.
As the website grows, new pages and features should continue to support that same focused purpose. We would rather improve barcode generation, validation, scanning, bulk processing and printing than add unrelated tools simply to make the website appear larger.
