Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Exact Barcode, operated through ExactKBTools.com, handles information when you use our barcode tools, browse the website or contact us.

Exact Barcode is intentionally designed so that many barcode tasks happen directly inside your browser. Generating a barcode, validating a supported number, calculating a check digit, processing a supported CSV file or scanning a barcode does not normally require us to create a server-side record of the barcode data you are working with.

The Short Version

Most of the actual barcode work on Exact Barcode happens on your device. We do not require a visitor account, we do not maintain personal barcode libraries for public users and we are not building a database of the numbers people enter into our generators.

Some information still reaches our systems during normal website use. For example, our web host receives ordinary request information when pages load and information submitted through the Contact page must reach our server so we can read and respond to the message.

If analytics or advertising services are enabled, those services can also process technical information according to their own privacy practices and the consent choices applicable to you.

Barcode Generator Data

When you enter text or numbers into one of our barcode generators, the barcode is designed to be rendered in your browser. The site does not need to send every value to an external barcode-generation API just to create the image.

This applies to the main Barcode Generator and supported format-specific generators such as Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-8, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, ITF-14 and Codabar.

The generated barcode may remain visible in your browser until you leave or refresh the page. If you download the barcode, the resulting file is stored wherever your own browser or device places downloaded files.

Barcode Validation and Check Digits

The Barcode Validator and Check Digit Calculator are designed to perform supported structural checks directly in the browser. The value you enter is used to calculate or verify things such as length, permitted characters or a GTIN check digit.

A validation request is not intended to create a permanent server-side history of the numbers you check. Exact Barcode also does not use those numbers to create product profiles, advertising profiles or commercial barcode databases.

Bulk Barcode Generator

The Bulk Barcode Generator lets you paste multiple values and process them together. The entered values are designed to remain within the browser while the tool validates and generates the supported barcodes.

If you export the generated results as files, the resulting files are created for you to download to your device. Exact Barcode does not provide public cloud storage for those exported barcode batches.

CSV Barcode Generator

The CSV Barcode Generator allows you to choose a CSV file from your device and select the column containing the values you want to process. Supported CSV parsing and barcode generation are designed to happen inside the browser rather than by uploading the entire spreadsheet to a permanent Exact Barcode database.

The current tool also limits the size of files it accepts to protect browser performance. You should still avoid using a real confidential database when a smaller non-sensitive file would be sufficient for the task.

Once you download generated results, responsibility for storing and protecting those files moves to you.

Barcode Scanner

The Barcode Scanner can decode supported barcodes from an image or, on compatible devices and browsers, from your camera.

When you use camera scanning, the browser must first ask for camera permission. Exact Barcode can not bypass that permission or secretly activate your camera.

The scanning engine is designed to analyse the camera feed in the browser and extract the barcode value. We do not operate the scanner as a video-recording service and do not intentionally keep a permanent archive of camera frames.

If you use an existing image instead, the image is used for barcode decoding. The scanner is not intended to function as a photo-storage service.

Barcode Label Maker and Print Tools

The Barcode Label Maker and Barcode Size Calculator use information you enter to prepare dimensions, layouts and barcode output for printing. These calculations are intended to happen within the browser.

When you select Print, the actual printing process is handled by your browser, operating system and printer. Exact Barcode does not receive a copy of every label sheet or document that you send to your printer.

Printer manufacturers, browser vendors and operating systems may have their own privacy practices that are outside our control.

Information That Reaches Our Server

Even when barcode processing happens locally, your browser still has to request the website itself from our server. As part of normal web hosting, technical information may be recorded automatically.

That can include your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, browser information, response status and similar server-level details needed for security, troubleshooting and delivery of the website.

This technical information is different from deliberately maintaining a database of the barcode values you type into a generator.

Hosting

ExactKBTools.com is hosted using third-party hosting infrastructure. The hosting provider processes normal server requests so that pages, scripts, stylesheets and other website files can be delivered to visitors.

Hosting systems may retain logs for security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention and infrastructure management. The retention and technical operation of those systems may also be governed by the hosting provider's own policies.

Contact Messages

The Contact page works differently from a browser-only barcode generator because a message cannot reach us without being submitted to the server.

When you use the contact form, we may receive your name, email address, subject, message and technical information needed to protect the form from spam or abuse. Submitted messages can be stored in the private Exact Barcode administrative inbox so they can be reviewed and answered.

Contact messages are not displayed publicly. We recommend that you do not include passwords, database credentials, payment information or unnecessary confidential material in a message.

Spam and Abuse Protection

Our public forms and website endpoints may use rate limits, validation and other technical controls to reduce spam, automated submissions and malicious activity.

These protections may temporarily use information such as an IP address, request timing or submission patterns. Their purpose is website security and abuse prevention rather than advertising.

Exact Barcode may reject or block requests that appear abusive, automated or harmful.

404 and Error Monitoring

Exact Barcode may record limited information about requests for missing pages so we can identify broken links and incorrect URLs. This helps us fix navigation problems and create redirects where necessary.

Our administrative 404 monitoring is intended for website maintenance, not for building detailed browsing profiles of individual visitors. Logs may also be filtered or aggregated to reduce unnecessary noise.

Public Accounts

Exact Barcode does not currently offer public user accounts. You do not need to create a username or password to generate, scan, validate or print barcodes with the main tools.

Because there are no ordinary public accounts, we also do not maintain personal barcode dashboards, cloud histories or saved barcode collections for visitors.

Administrator accounts used to operate the website are separate and are not available to the public.

Cookies

The barcode tools themselves do not require us to create a public user account cookie just to generate a barcode. However, the website may use cookies or similar browser technologies where they are necessary for website operation or for optional third-party services.

For example, the private administrative area uses session-related security mechanisms for authorized administrators. Analytics or advertising services may also use cookies if those services are enabled and permitted under the applicable consent settings.

Your browser normally allows you to block or remove cookies, although doing so can affect some website functionality.

Analytics

Exact Barcode has the ability to use analytics services such as Google Analytics but analytics should only be treated as active when they have actually been configured on the website.

If analytics are enabled, the provider may process technical and usage information such as device type, approximate location, traffic source, pages visited and interactions with the website. We use that type of information to understand website performance rather than to inspect the individual barcode values entered into our tools.

The analytics provider's own privacy policy and configured retention settings also apply to information handled by that service.

Advertising

Exact Barcode may use Google AdSense or another advertising service to help fund hosting and development. Advertising is separate from the actual barcode-processing functions.

If advertising is enabled, advertising providers may process information such as IP address, device information, cookies, page visits and advertisement interactions. Personalized advertising, where applicable, can depend on your region, consent settings and the advertising provider's policies.

We do not intentionally pass the barcode value you type into a generator to an advertiser for advertising purposes.

Advertising and Tool Controls

We design advertising areas separately from actions such as Generate, Scan, Validate, Download and Print. An advertisement should not deliberately be presented as though it were a barcode-tool button.

This distinction matters because visitors should be able to understand when they are interacting with Exact Barcode and when they are interacting with a third-party advertisement.

If advertising is added or changed later, the privacy disclosures on this page should be reviewed at the same time.

Open-Source Barcode Libraries

Exact Barcode uses open-source software to provide parts of its barcode functionality. These libraries can include code used for rendering barcodes, decoding supported barcode formats and creating downloadable files.

A library running inside your browser does not automatically mean that the data it processes is sent to the original library developer. Our Open Source Licenses page identifies relevant software components and their licensing information.

External Links

Some guides or reference pages may link to standards organizations, documentation or other external resources. Clicking an external link takes you away from ExactKBTools.com.

The destination website may collect information under its own privacy policy and may use different cookies or tracking technologies. Exact Barcode does not control those independent websites.

What We Do Not Use Barcode Inputs For

The values entered into our browser-based barcode tools are intended for the task you asked the tool to perform. We do not intentionally collect them to create a list of products you own, construct personal profiles, sell barcode-number databases or determine what advertisements you should see.

That distinction applies to the ordinary generator, validator, check-digit, bulk, CSV, label and scanner workflows described above.

If a future feature requires server-side barcode storage, the feature should clearly tell users before relying on that storage, and this Privacy Policy should be updated accordingly.

How Long We Keep Information

Information that never leaves your browser is not subject to server-side retention by Exact Barcode. Generated barcode values processed locally therefore do not have a website-database retention period.

Information that does reach the server can have different retention periods. Contact messages may remain available while they are useful for responding to or documenting an enquiry, while technical and security logs may be retained for operational or security purposes.

Third-party analytics, advertising and hosting providers may apply their own retention policies to information they process.

Security

Exact Barcode uses HTTPS so data transmitted between your browser and ExactKBTools.com is encrypted while travelling across the network. Administrative areas also use security measures intended to restrict access to authorized website managers.

Our website additionally uses measures such as input validation, secure sessions, access controls and protected administrative actions. These protections reduce risk, but no public website or internet transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

For that reason, you should not place highly sensitive information into a barcode tool or contact form unless you have independently determined that doing so is appropriate.

Your Choices

You can use the main barcode tools without creating an account and can leave the website whenever you choose. Your browser also provides controls for clearing cookies, managing site data and changing permissions such as camera access.

If optional analytics or advertising technologies require consent in your region, relevant choices may be presented through the website's consent mechanism. Your exact legal rights can depend on where you live and the type of information involved.

Requests About Personal Information

Depending on applicable privacy law, you may have rights to ask about personal information we hold about you or request correction or deletion of certain information. Because our main barcode tools do not create public user accounts, the information we can associate with a specific visitor may be limited.

A request concerning information submitted through the Contact page can be made through our contact channel once the final Contact page is available. We may ask for enough information to verify that the request relates to you before disclosing or changing information.

Children's Privacy

Exact Barcode is a general-purpose barcode utility and educational website. It is not designed as a service specifically directed at children and the main tools do not require children or other visitors to create personal profiles.

If a parent or guardian believes that a child submitted personal information through our Contact page that should be reviewed or removed, they can contact us so the situation can be assessed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the actual operation of Exact Barcode changes. Examples include enabling a new advertising provider, introducing a server-side feature, changing how contact messages are handled or adding functionality that changes the information processed by the website.

When a material change is made, the effective date at the top of the policy will be updated. We prefer updating the policy when the website actually changes rather than adding speculative disclosures for features that do not exist.

Questions About Privacy

Privacy questions can be sent through the Exact Barcode Contact page once that page is completed. The Contact page will provide the appropriate way to reach us without requiring a public user account.

For broader information about how Exact Barcode works, see About Exact Barcode. Our Terms of Use, Disclaimer and Open Source Licenses pages cover separate legal and software-related topics without repeating this Privacy Policy.
